During the 2022/23 school year I provided information and resources about Quinnipiac to first year students through different forms of media. These forms of media includes bulletin boards, flyers, GroupMe messages, weekly emails, and face to face conversations. I utilized the graphic design program Canva to create flyers for events I was hosting and co-hosting as a First Year Residential Assistant.
In addition to standard RA duties I also serve as a Learning Living Community (LLC) RA for 3+1 Communications. 3+1 is a accelerated dual degree program in which students earn their Bachelors and Masters degree within 4 years. In partnership with RA Ben Darling and Faculty Affiliate (FA) Dr. Terry Bloom, we work to create a community and programs with the focus of communication studies.

With inspiration from Pinterest posts, I created Disney themed door decorations and bulletin boards. Each month a new bulletin board was created with a focus on one of QU’s core goals. In the Fall 2022 semester there three main focuses for our residents were Wellness, Social and Emotional Intelligence, and Academic and Career Success.

FYRE Community Conversations
From March to the beginning of April I met with each of my residents and caught up with them about how their first year as a college student went. This activity allowed me to reconnect with my busy residents who I do not talk to on a daily basis. I learned about the ways they are involved and what they plan to/will do their second year.
Inspiration for the slides is the tools from Playhouse Disney / Disney Junior’s show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I used Canva to create this presentation.
