This day would be a socialization day for my family, as many of my extended family live in the area. Here are recommendations of activities to do in the area.

  • Derrycarne Wood – a beautiful woodland walk mirroring Lough Boderg
  • Kilglass Lake – a great fishing hole on the Shannon
  • Strokestown 9 Hole Golf Course – some of the most scenic views of any course in Ireland
  • Sliabh Ban Recreation – Coillte’s flagship mountain recreation 
  • Dromod Harbour – Beautiful views of Lough Bofin with public toilets and tennis court
  • Shannon Adventure Center, Rooskey – The Shannon’s premier water adventure company

Go to the Doolin Ferry Terminal to visit the Aran Islands

  • Buy tickets to the ferry at O’Brien Ferries

  • Get off at the third island
    • Start at the Viewpoint of Eeragh Lighthouse

    • Walk or Bike to the various landmarks on the islands
    • Don’t forget to stop at the Dún Aonghasa for great ocean views
    • Most important landmark, to me, is the Saint Enda’s Monastery.
