Growing up I learned the importance of writing with pen and paper. In elementary school I was introduced to the paper agendas for school assignments and it wasn’t until high school that I began using digital calendars to track assignments. Currently I have found a groove in utilizing both methods of assignment and task management.
Digital Calendars and Stickies

Apple has an application on each Macbook called “Stickies”. This is my primary project management application because the digital sticky notes can be coordinated with the color coded system on my calendar. I add stickies to my homescreen for every activity I have in my apple calendar as well as week view and daily to do lists.
Apple Calendar is another application I rely on every day. Every aspect of my life is programmed into it, across my products. Apple allows for multiple calendars to be created and temporarily turned off.
Google Calendar is my class assignment calendar. At the beginning of each semester I put the “big assignment” due dates under the class name. Conveniently, Apple allows users to sync their google calendars with their apple calendar.

Paper and Pen
Using pen and paper is still an important method of project management for me. I have found satisfaction in physically crossing off assignments from to do lists and at the end of the day throwing the list out. I find myself making paper to do lists while in internships and work environments. I believe doing this allows me to focus more on what the person is telling me without being distracted on my technology.
Testing a project management program
As a young professional I believe in growing my knowledge about programs companies are using. One project management program I am testing out is Asana. Asana publicizes that companies such as Amazon, National Geographic, and NBCUniversal are using their program. As an aspiring social media specialist for a TV or film production company, these names stuck out to me.

I found that the board feature, under the My Tasks tab, was most useful to me. I specifically input tasks for my only online class this semester, Foundations of Graduate Studies. This seven week course has been flying by, and there is an importance for me to keep track of my work. I will continue to explore the program for the rest of the course and possibly utilize it for the rest of my online master’s program.
