In continuing my education in analyzing and creating interactive media, there is an importance for self-reflection in my media journey before I begin my last two years in college.
My relationship with media began when I was three months away from being born, hearing the music and audio played around my mother. Around three or four I was formally introduced to age appropriate and educational movies and television shows. As I went through elementary school, I was introduced to computers, smartboards, and tablets. Technology is and was being used all around me. In fourth grade I was gifted an iPod touch and a parent monitored social media account. As I aged, my media consumption increased but limitations were in place to protect me.
By 2018, I found joy in videography, specifically pre and post production work, through classes and the Connecticut Health I-Team Multimedia Journalism Camp. In 2020, I was accepted into Quinnipiac University’s Film, Television and Media Arts program. When I got to Quinnipiac I wanted to learn more about media marketing, leading me to change my major to Media Studies and utilizing my completed credits for a Film and Television Minor. In continuing my studies of media creation, analysis, and consumption I have begun my Interactive Media and Communications master’s program.
Throughout my life there has been an importance in responsible media use and creation. Our society is reliant on technology and we tend to forget about the physical world we live in. It is seen that after the pandemic more and more people have traveled to and explored physical landmarks. However with virtual realities at our fingertips, the trends may decrease again (Hari 32). My goal is to utilize my degrees to promote television programs, films, plays, and other works of art to society through social media, while also encouraging enjoyment for the physical world around them.
Technology is going to continue to advance and as someone who prides themselves on being adaptable, I am excited to grow with it!
